Objectives

Translators and interpreters must not only be experts in language, but also must handle all the business-related aspects of their profession. The Business Practices Education Committee was established to provide ATA members with information about sound business practices, specifically those related to the T&I industry.

The Committee is asked to do the following:

  • educate ATA members in sound business practices relevant to the translation and interpreting professions;
  • respond to ATA members' questions and concerns about such business practices;
  • provide an online forum for ongoing discussion of business practices; and
  • develop documents and procedures for various business situations that could be used by both providers and purchasers of translation and interpreting services.
